LED ZEPPELIN

"LED ZEPPELIN II"

1969

Welcome to another week of music appreciation. We’re going to slow things down a bit and turn to the great granddaddies of rock ‘n’ roll: Led Zepplin.

Led Zepplin II is a quintessential album in any music lover’s collection. The album opens with “Whole Lotta Love,” which is one of the all-time best rock songs out there. How could one not sing along to “You need Kool-Aid, man I need Kool-Aid…”? (Yes, elitists, I’m aware those are not the actual lyrics.)

“What Is And What Never Should Be” is also another classic song from Zepplin. From sexy subtle cooing to a powerful chorus, the mood swings and the tasty solo all make this a piece of musical genius.

I’m not sure if this next song ever became a hit, but “The Lemon Song” is a personal favorite. Just the fact that it’s called “The Lemon Song” makes me happy.

Of course, other well-known Zepplin songs are found on here like “Ramble On,” “Thank You,” “Heartbreaker,” I can pretty much list this entire album as a “The Best of…” album. This record can do no wrong in my eyes.

So… “Thank You” Led Zepplin.
